South of Leyburn in the western Yorkshire Dales, there is a nice 15 mile loop combining tarmac and rutted bridleways through Carlton Moor. Start from the car park near Wensley Bridge in Leyburn on A684 (about 10 miles west of the A1 at Bedale).

The mountain bike trailhead is located southwest of Newcastle upon Tyne and east of Sedbergh.

Overall, Carlton Moor Loop is the 75th most popular mountain bike trail of all 93 mountain biking rides in UK. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Carlton Moor Loop including Stockdale Lane, Ingleborough Common and Settle Loop.
