Northwest of Sedona, there is a good trail system near Doe Mountain that includes the Dawa/Rupp Loop and the Cockscomb/Aerie Loop. Both of these loops can be combined into a longer figure-eight style loop.
There are several access points for these loops. In the south, there is a trailhead parking area off SR89A near Cultural Park for the southern Girdner Trail trailhead. The Girdner Trail can be ridden north to connect with the Dawa/Rupp Loop. In the east, there is a trailhead on Dry Creek Road for the AZ Cyprus Trail which can be ridden west to connect with the Dawa/Rupp Loop.
The best trailhead is the northern trailhead that provides direct access to the Dawa Trail and the Aerie Trail.
To reach the northern trailhead from uptown Sedona, head west on SR89A for 4 miles to Dry Creek Road. Turn right heading north on Dry Creek Road for about 8 miles staying to the left. About a mile past the entrance to the Enchantment Resort, there is a parking area on the left side of the road.
Overall, Dawa / Doe Mountain Loops is the 94th most popular mountain bike trail of all 103 mountain biking rides in Arizona. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Dawa / Doe Mountain Loops including Apache Maid Trail, Soldiers Pass / Secret Trail, Bell Rock-Llama-Submarine, Templeton Trail / Easy-Breezy, Deadmans Pass Loop, Huckaby Thompson Loop, Dead Horse Ranch State Park, .
