East of Cedar City and Brian Head in the Dixie National Forest, the Birch Spring Knoll Lava Beds loop is a 15 mile mountain bike route through breathtaking vistas past bristlecone pines. Themountain bike route is on old forest roads.

The trailhead is located 2.6 miles south of the lake on SR143.

Overall, Birch Spring Knoll is the 56th most popular mountain bike trail of all 73 mountain biking rides in Utah. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Birch Spring Knoll including Bunker Creek Trail, Virgin River Rim Trail and Dark Hollow Trail.
