Southeast of Tulsa in the Ouachita National Forest, the 26,000 acre Winding Stair Mountain NRA has the 77 mile Winding Stair Equestrian Trail System open to mountain biking.
There are four developed trailhead parking areas: Big Cedar, Pashubbe, Winding Stair, and Horse Thief at Cedar Lake.
To reach the mountain biking trailhead from the intersection of US 270 and US 59 in Heavener, go south on US 59 for 15 miles. Turn right (south) on US 259 and go just over 4 miles to a right on SR 1. Travel 4 miles to a right (north) on CR N 4685 towards Cedar Lake Recreation Area. Go 4.2 miles to a left. This road goes to a parking area on the south side of Cedar Lake.
