West of Cadillac, the Mackenzie Trail is a 15km trail network open to mountain biking in the summer and cross-country skiing in the winter. Most trails are one-way.

To reach the trailhead from Cadillac, head west on SR55 for 12 miles to Caberfree Road. Turn north on Caberfree Road for 2 miles. Turn west on FS38 for 1 mile to trail entrance.

Overall, Mackenzie Bike Trail is the 36th most popular mountain bike trail of all 37 mountain biking rides in Michigan. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Mackenzie Bike Trail including Huron-Manistee National Forest, Hungerford Lake, Cadillac Pathway, Big M Mountain Bike Trail, North Country Trail - Marilla To Dilling, North Country Trail - Freesoil To Bowman Lake and White Pine Trail.
