Lower Fossil Creek Bike Trail Mountain Biking

Northeast of Fairbanks in the White Mountains National Recreation Area, the Lower Fossil Creek Trail is a 23 mile route. This winter trail crosses two lakes in the first seven miles.

The trailhead is located at milepost 28 of the Elliott Highway (aka Wickersham Creek trailhead).

To reach mountain biking at the Fossil Creek trail, head northeast on the Wickersham trail to its northern end at Borealis-LeFevre Cabin. The Lower Fossil Creek trail starts at the cabin and continues northeast through a broad, open valley and Black Spruce forests for the first 6 miles. The Upper Fossil Creek Trail continues to climb for 0.5 miles before dropping in to the Fossil Creek drainage. The Fossil Creek Trail continues to follow the Fossil Creek drainage for another 12 miles. The trail goes past jagged limestone cliffs and through White Spruce forests before reaching the Windy Gap Cabin and connecting with the Cache Mountain Loop Trail.
