Near Aberystwyth, the Nant-yr-Arian Forest has trails extending into the Cambrian Mountains. The Continental tyres Syfydrin trail combines the best of the ‘Summit trail' singletrack with backcountry mountain tracks for a 35km wilderness loop. The 16km Summit trail and 9km Pendam trail use twisting all weather singletrack carved into the steep valleys and ridges of the forest to create shorter, but no less challengingmountain bike route options.
Directions: Head for Birmingham and then take M6 north. Turn west onto M54 past Telford. Take M5 round Shrewsbury then turn onto A483 south past Welshpool to Newtown. Take A489 towards Caersws, but turn onto A470 south west to Llangurig. Take A44 west at roundabout towards Aberystwyth. Nant-y-Arian visitor centre is less than 2 miles beyond Ponterwyd.
