Near Herriman, Butterfield Canyon is a challenging mountain bike ride mostly on dirt roads. The main road you will be riding on is a county road that is open to the public, but private land surrounds this road so be aware. Butterfield Canyon is a steady climb for approximately 10 miles and an elevation gain of 3700 feet. The road brings you to an overlook of the Bingham Canyon copper mine.

To reach the mountain biking trailhead from US15, take exit #294 and head west on UT 71 for about 10 miles. When you reach the High Country Estates the road will curve to the right (north) and become UT 111. Take a left here and after 3 miles the road will fork, stay to the right and look for parking on the left side of the road.

Overall, Butterfield Canyon is the 65th most popular mountain bike trail of all 73 mountain biking rides in Utah.
