To reach mountain biking at the eastern trailhead from Greymouth, head north on SH6 across the Grey River and turn right heading east on Taylorville Road to Blackball. In Blackball, head north on Blackball Road to the end.

To reach the western trailhead from Greymouth, head north on SH6 through Greigs to the very small town of Barrytown (Barrytown us also 16km south of Punakaiki on SH6). The trail comes right down to SH6 in the center of Barrytown and is marked by a small sign. Near the sign, there is alittle room roadside for parallel parking.

Overall, Croesus Track is the 41st most popular mountain bike trail of all 41 mountain biking rides in New Zealand. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Croesus Track including Tiropahi Tram Track and Denniston Plateau.
