Near Nelson, the Nydia Track is a 22km route open to mountain biking. The Nydia Track passes through lush coastal forest and also climbs two saddles to offer nice vistas. This is a challenging mountain bike ride that is technical and rocky with plenty of roots. The best way to ride is to start in the north and head south.
To reach the Tennyson Inlet trailhead, turn off State Highway 6 just north of Rai Valley and travel 27 km to Duncan Bay.
To reach the Kaiuma Bay trailhead from Havelock at Queen Charlotte Road, head west on SH6 for 12.4km to Kaiuma Bay Road. Turn right heading north on Kaiuma Bay road immediately crossing the bridge and veering right. Continue for 24km to the signed trailhead (limited roadside parking).
