East of Nelson and west of Picton, the Waikakaho/Cullen Creek Walkway is about a 15km one-way route. The track is best ridden south to north. There are several challenging creek crossings.
To reach mountain biking at the northern trailhead from Picton, head west on Queen Charlotte Drive for 20.4km. In Linkwater, turn left heading south on dirt Cullenville Road (may not be signed well) through creek ford for 2.5km to the trailhead parking area. Note: starting from this northern trailhead, the track may be difficult to follow at times and can be rough.
Please keep to the marked track and respect farm stock and the private property leaving all gates as you found them.
In the south the track begins at the end of Waikakaho Road. This road leaves the Kaituna-Tuamarina Road along the northern side of the lower Wairau River, midway between State Highway 1 at Tuamarina and State Highway 6 at Kaituna. Please keep to the road and the track which provide legal access to the Mt Richmond Forest Park boundary.
