Ben Lomond Track For Mountain Biking

The 25th most popular mountain bike trail in New Zealand.

Northwest of Queenstown, the Ben Lomond Forest has a nice trail network close to town. The backbone access route is Skyline Road, which is a steep 4WD road climbing 2.9km to the Skyline gondola complex. From the gondola complex, there are two main routes down to the midway picnic area: the Ben Lomond Track (1.7km) or Vertigo (1 km). Either way, you can't go wrong. From the midway picnic area, you can hop on the Original track leading the rest of the way down to the parking area.

To reach mountain biking at the trailhead serving the trails in Ben Lomond Forest from Queenstown City Center, head west on Beach Street. After first block, veer right on Brunswick Street. At the second intersection, turn right heading north up Lomond Cresent. The long roadside parking area is on the right.

Overall, Ben Lomond Track is the 25th most popular mountain bike trail of all 41 mountain biking rides in New Zealand.
