West of Queenstown, the Moonlight Track circumnavigates the Ben Lomond Forest. If starting from Queenstown, it is a 33km route.
To reach the mountain biking trailhead from Queenstown, head west on the rolling Glenorchy-Queenstown Road for 6pm. There is an unsigned parking area on the left for Seven Mile Recreation Preserve.
Near that parking area, start riding north up steep Moke Lake Road for 6km to Moke Lake (alternately, you could mountain bike ride west on the Seven Mile Track, then turn north on the Lake Dispute Track up to Moke Lake). From the northeast end of Moke Lake, continue through the gate on the 4WD road signed for Moonlight Track.
As the 4WD track wraps around the north side of Ben Lomond Forest, the track eventually degrades into singletrack for the rest of the way to Arthurs Point. From Arthurs Point, its a 3km descent south back into Queenstown.
Overall, Moonlight Track is the 22nd most popular mountain bike trail of all 41 mountain biking rides in New Zealand.
