West of Grand Junction and southeast Palisade, the Kannah Creek Trail offers one of the best descents in the region with 4,000 feet down. The Kannah Creek Trail is generally well-marked, but you can expect it to be steep, rocky and narrow at times.
Most people do the Kannah Creek Trail with a car shuttle. A really long shuttle. But the descent is worth it.
To reach the lower trailhead for Kannah Creek Trail from Palisade, head west on SR6 to Clifton. Turn south on SR141 to SR50 south. Turn left on Lands End Road and at the sharp hairpin turn, turn right on Kannah Creek Road to the signed trailhead parking area. Drop a car here. To reach the upper trailhead from here, continue climbing up Lands End Road, which is mainly gravel. At the summit (10,000 feet), the pavement returns and you can follow this road to the upper Carson Lake trailhead on the right.
Overall, Kannah Creek Trail is the 160th most popular mountain bike trail of all 176 mountain biking rides in Colorado.
