North of Imst, the Via Claudia Augusta route follows old forest roads towards Nassereith and then up and over Fernpass towards Ehrwald and Lermoss. The mountain biking route from Imst to Ehrwald runs 38.6km with a maximum vertical ascent of 1,000m. This ancient Roman trade route, Via Claudia Augusta, is mainly a wide doubletrack that has a crushed limestone surface.

Tip - About a half-mile beyond Fernpass, there is a nice restaurant, Rasthaus Zugspitzblick, over looking Blindsee but don't expect the greatest service.

Overall, Via Claudia Augusta is the 37th most popular mountain bike trail of all 69 mountain biking rides in Austria. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Via Claudia Augusta including Lermoos, Seefeld, Ischgl and Nordkette Singletrail.
