Southwest of Crested Butte, the Carbon Trail is a rugged, hike-a-bike that runs from Ohio Pass Road in the west to the start of the Para Me - Para Ti Trail in the east. There are plans to rebuild the old Baxter Gulch Trail from that eastern intersection that will run further east to SR135 just south of Crested Butte.
Overall, Carbon Trail is the 129th most popular mountain bike trail of all 178 mountain biking rides in Colorado. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Carbon Trail including Deer Creek Trail, 401 Trail, Teocalli Ridge Trail, East Brush Creek / Trail 400, 409 Trail / Walrod Gulch and Timberline TrailDoctors Park.
