Northeast of Gunnison, the Ridgeline Open Space has numerous singletracks and a doubletrack heading up towards Signal Peak. The main doubletrack is Signal Peak Road that runs several miles northeast and is part of the Gunnison Spur of the Colorado Trail. Off this central gravelly dirt road, there are buttery purpose-built mountain biking singletracks leading back down to the west or south. The southern singletracks end out at the Contour Trail, which runs several miles east.

There is a good trailhead for the Ridgeline Open Space on the northeastern edge of Western State Colorado University. There are several parking lots that are open to day use.

Overall, Ridgeline Open Space is the 148th most popular mountain bike trail of all 178 mountain biking rides in Colorado. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Ridgeline Open Space including Hartman Rocks, Colorado Trail - Lost Canyon Loop, Agate Creek Trail, Contour Trail and Canyon Creek Trail.
