Northeast of Panama City and north of Tocumen, the Cerro Azul mountain bike routes are based out of the community of Buena Vista. There are two routes following old dirt roads to the north and south of the village. The southern route, which most riders call Cerro Azul, is a 4.4 mile one-way route climbing 1,500 feet. It is typically ridden as an out-and-back. The northern route, which most riders call Cerro Azul Aserrio is a 6.8 mile one-way route climbing 2,000 feet. It is also ridden as an out-and-back.
To reach the mountain biking in Panama by air, fly into Tocumen International Airport (PTY) located just east of Panama City.
The Cerro Azul mountain bike ride is located to the northeast of Panama City. Most riders park in the community of Buena Vista near the lake where there is a vacation resort and two restaurants.
