Jumbo Mountain Trail System For Mountain Biking

On the east side of Paonia, the Jumbo Mountain Trail System is favorite ride with local mountain bikers. The main route circumnavigates Jumbo Mountain in a 6.75 mile loop with roughly 1,400 feet of climbing. The singletrack rolls through arid high desert terrain with a few loose, steep, hike-a-bike sections. From the trailhead, it generally climbs to the halfway point and then has a sweet descent back to the start.

To reach the Jumbo Mountain Trail System trailhead from downtown Paonia on 2nd or 3rd Streets, head north on Rio Grande Avenue. Rio Grande turns into Pan American Avenue. Follow Pan American Avenue to the end where there is roadside parking. The singletrack starts right from the end of Rio Grande Avenue.
