South of Cairns near Miriwinni, the Bellenden Ker National Park has many mountain bike trails in the rain forests of northern Queensland. These are the oldest rain forests in the world. Keep a sharp eye out for the Wait-a-While vine and for Minjin.

Bellenden Ker National Park is located 43 km south of Cairns, in the wet tropical uplands near the coast of northeast Queensland. The park ranger is located at Josephine Falls, the turnoff to which is located 43 km south of Cairns and 2 km south of Miriwinni. The park entrance is located 8 km from the Bruce Highway.
