The Old Wagon Road starts in Rossland on the corner of Esling and Irwin Streets at RossGlen Park. It drops briskly down north of the golf course. The Wagon Road eventually meets the railgrade which can lead back to Rossland for a 12km loop. The abandoned CPR railgrade from Rossland to Warfield serves as a main artery from many excellent mountain bike rides south of town. It crosses Trail Creek several times.

Overall, Railgrade / Wagon Road Loop is the 17th most popular mountain bike trail of all 46 mountain biking rides in British Columbia. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Railgrade / Wagon Road Loop including Black Jack Nordic Trail System, Coyote Swamp, Drakes / Deer Park Loop, Kootenay-Columbia / Monte Cristo, Rubberhead Trail and Smugglers / 007Cascade / Midnight Loop.
