Near St. Johns, the Kenmount Hill mountain bike ride is a moderate 7 km trek. The loop starts by riding up the gravel road towards the communication towers located at the top of Kenmount Hill. At the top of the hill continue straight past the towers and you will enter the woods where the trail will make a sharp right turn and head down hill and cross a bog. After another short section of trail you will come to a double track where you turn right. Along this double track there is several trail loops to your left that offer technical single track sections with short uphills and downhills. The trail will eventually lead back into a large feild with several more towers where you can shortcut back to sthe starting point by turning left or you can do another couple of trail sections by going straight accross the feild toward several houses next to a scrap yard. These additional trail sections will take you to the bottom of Redmans Road near where you turned off of Blackmarsh Road. Most of these trails are single track, rooty and best when conditions are dry.
To reach the trailhead, turn onto Redmans Road from Blackmarsh Road in St.Johns. Keep to the left on Redman s Road and the trail loop starts at the sharp left turn in the road next to the only house in this area.
Overall, Kenmount Hill is the 3rd most popular mountain bike trail of all 4 mountain biking rides in Newfoundland. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Kenmount Hill including Old Petty Harbor Road and Shoals Bay.
