Near the Lakes District and the town of Broughton-in-Furnace, a great 20+km loop combines old roads, bridleways and mountain bike singletrack through barren landscape and pine forest. Starting from town, head northwest on A593 for about 2km. Follow signs toward Broughton Mills. About 1km past Broughton Mills, veer right towards the entrance of Broughton Moor Forest.

Turn left into BMF on wide fire road. Stay to the right and then follow singletrack over towards Stephenson Ground through open grassy area. Pick up rough bridleway crossing Stainton Ground and Stickle Pike. At a main road near Ulpha, turn left onto tarmac climbing steeply. After 1km, turn left onto bridleway heading south. Follow this singletrack for several kilometers and pick up road heading east back to Broughton-in-Furnace.

Overall, Broughton Moor Forest is the 60th most popular mountain bike trail of all 93 mountain biking rides in UK.
