North of Liverpool between Ennerdale Bridge and Buttermore, the Ennerdale route is a 12.5 mile out & back on forest roads past barren rolling peaks.

The trailhead is located southwest of Carlisle and northeast of Engremont. The trek starts from the Bowness Knott car park southeast of Ennerdale on Ennerdale Water. Then mountain bike ride southeast on forest road on the north side of the river. At 5.8 miles, cross to the south side and follow the road northwest back to Ennerdale Water.

Overall, Ennerdale Forest Trails is the 25th most popular mountain bike trail of all 93 mountain biking rides in UK.
