North of Liverpool between Buttermere and Grange, the Honister loop runs 17 miles on forest roads over several passes.

The trailhead is located southwest of Carlisle and northeast of Egremont. The mountain bike trek starts in Grange at the Bowderstone car park and runs counterclockwise through Little Town, Buttermere and Distinton.

Overall, Honister Pass Circuit is the 49th most popular mountain bike trail of all 93 mountain biking rides in UK. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Honister Pass Circuit including Old Coach Road Bridleway, Ambleside Trails, Black Sail Pass Circuit, Coniston Water, Ennerdale Forest Trails, Floutern Tarn Circuit and Windermere West.
