Starting from Maentwrog on the west coast, a rolling 30 km loop combines forest lanes with undulating singletrack through semi-barren moorland. The route starts at the pub in Maentwrog near the intersection of A496 and A487. From the pub, mountain bike ride southeast on old Lanes through Coed Felinrhyd, parallel to A496. Near Cilfor, cross northwest into Penrhyndeudreath, head northeast through Coed Llynygarned up to Llynygarnedd, and then south back into Maentwrog.

The trailhead is located southeast of Holyhead and east of Pothmadog.
