Southwest of Inverness and Aviemore, the Cairn Gorm Mountains can be looped on a 200+ km multi-day journey. Aviemore is located on A9 which can be reached via M90 north of Edinburgh.

The Cairn Gorm Mountains are barren, rolling wilderness reaching up to over 4,000m in the larger Grampian Mountain Range. Themountain bike route around consists of difficult remote jeep trails.

Generally, the loop runs from Aviemore to Tomintoul (44km), then to Braemar (40km), next to Blair Atholl (46km), into Glen Feshie (65km), and back to Aviemore (30 km).

Overall, Cairngorm Mountain Circuit is the 19th most popular mountain bike trail of all 93 mountain biking rides in UK. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Cairngorm Mountain Circuit including Glen Brown Loop, Glenmulliach Loop and Tomnavoulin Grand Circuit.
