Hilltop Trail System For Mountain Biking

East of Anchorage, the 5,000 acre Far North Bicentennial Park has over 15 miles of multi-use trails, including those created for cross-country skiing at the Hilltop Ski Area. Watch out for moose on these trails.

To reach the mountain biking trailhead from SR1 (Seward Highway), exit at E. Dimond Blvd. Head east on E. Dimond Blvd. to Hartzell Road. Turn right heading south on Hartzell Road and veer left onto Abbott Road. Follow Abbott Road east to the Hilltop Ski Area parking lot (before the road turns sharply right). The trail system starts from the ski area and runs to the north.

Overall, Hilltop Trail System is the 8th most popular mountain bike trail of all 26 mountain biking rides in Alaska. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Hilltop Trail System including Kincaid Park Trails, Tony Knowles Trail, Far North Bicentennial Trails, Eklutna Lakeside Bike Trail, Peters Creek Trail and Powerline Trail.
