The popular Tony Knowles Coastal Trail is an 11 mile mountain bike route. It runs from downtown to above Cook Inlet ending at Kincaid Park.

A good starting point is the northern trailhead for the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail at 2nd Avenue.

Overall, Tony Knowles Trail is the 2nd most popular mountain bike trail of all 26 mountain biking rides in Alaska. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Tony Knowles Trail including Kincaid Park Trails, Far North Bicentennial Trails, Hilltop Trail System, Eklutna Lakeside Bike Trail, Peters Creek Trail and Powerline Trail.
