Southeast of Alpine in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, the Georges Lake Trail (4.5 mi./500) has a few fairly hard uphill grunts and some quick descents. Although the mountain bike trail is located on a bumpy old logging road, the scenery is quite wonderful. Georges Lake is a good location for lunch or a quick breather and, if you are lucky enough, some waterfowl might be seen at the quiet little lake. Even though this trail begins right outside of Alpine, it has the reputation for being the least used route.

Overall, Georges Lake Trail is the 64th most popular mountain bike trail of all 103 mountain biking rides in Arizona. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Georges Lake Trail including Ackre Lake Trail, General George Crook Bike Trail, Hannagan Meadow Loop, Luna Lake Loop, Terry Flat Loop and Williams Valley Loop.
