Southeast of Alpine in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, the Luna Lake Loop trailhead is a short distance from the Luna Lake Campground, making this a convenient mountain bike ride when the fishing is slow at the lake. These two ponderosa pine clad loops(3 or 8 mi.) offer fantastic opportunities for watching out-of-water wildlife. The two loops are also located adjacent to the Georges Lake Trail, which allows for an adventurous bicycling route to and from Alpine.
To reach the mountain biking trailhead from Alpine, head east on US180 for 5 miles. Turn left heading north on Luna Lake Road for 1 mile to trailhead parking area.
Overall, Luna Lake Loop is the 42nd most popular mountain bike trail of all 103 mountain biking rides in Arizona.
