The MOST popular mountain bike trail in Arizona.

Located west of Tucson, the Tucson Mountain Park is a county park around Tucson Mountain with a variety of trails.

To reach the most popular trailhead, follow US10 into Tucson and exit at St. Marys Ave. Follow St. Marys west for several miles (the name changes to Anklam Rd.) past the Pima College campus. Watch on left for the entrance to Starr Pass Development at Players Club Road. Turn left onto Players Club Road, follow it to the end, and then turn left. After about 0.1 miles, turn right onto an unmarked dirt road. Well past the houses, use the common parking area.

From this trailhead, a popular route combines the Starr Pass Trail with the Yetman Trail to complete a loop. Start by riding from the parking area further up the road to an informal gated entrance to the Tucson Mountain Park. Pass through the gate and up to the trail signs. Continue straight on the trail following signes for the Starr Pass 1.5 mi.. Ride down a rocky hill and veer right at the trail intersection. Take the next trail on the left following the sign Starr Pass 1.1 mi.. Stay to the right continuing on the main trail as it climbs through a pass with Cat Mountain rising above on the left. Crank down the other side through a brief technical stretch. Cross over the park gate at the bottom, and stay right along the fence. Cross back into the park over a gate and then back out of the park again. Along an easy rolling stretch, watch for a man-made berm (double jump) and use the gate near it on the right to get back into the park again.

Follow this trail as it meets with the Yetman Trail – always stay to the right. Continue past the John Krein Trail and down into the long wash. Proceed on the Yetman Trail until back at the original sign near the informal park entrance. It's about nine miles round-trip. A great resource for route planning is the Tucson Area Mountain Bike Trail Map from AzORA (520) 882-6567.

Overall, Starr Pass is the 1st most popular mountain bike trail of all 103 mountain biking rides in Arizona. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Starr Pass including Chiva Falls Loop, Sanmaniego Ridge Trail, Elephant Head Mountain Bike Route, Oracle Ridge Trail, Canada Del Oro Trail and Greaterville Trails.
