Located in the southeastern corner of Arizona near the town of Portal, the Chiricahua Mountain Range in the CNF has several excellent trails including: Green House Trail, Basin Trail, FR 42, Shaw Peak Trail (#251), and Pinery-Horse Fall Trails. Check out Cave Creek Canyon.

To reach the mountain biking trailhead from Tucson, head southeast on US10 to Wilcox. Proceed southeast on SR186 for 30 miles and then head east on SR181 for three miles to FS42. Most trailheads are located off FS42 near Onion Saddle.

Keep an eye out for jaguars, which have been reported in this area.

Overall, Chiricahua Mountains is the 34th most popular mountain bike trail of all 103 mountain biking rides in Arizona. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Chiricahua Mountains including Cochise Trail and Cooper-Perimeter Loop.
