Northwest of Prescott near Granite Mountain in the Prescott National Forest, the Granite Basin Recreation Area has an network of trails shared by hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. The trail system is a series of loops that can be linked together to form long rides.

There are several trailheads that service the Granite Basin. The most popular trailheads are the Williamson Valley Trailhead in the north, the Katahn/Willow Creek Trailhead in the east, and the Cayuse Trailhead which is centrally located.

Overall, Granite Mountain / Granite Basin is the 12th most popular mountain bike trail of all 103 mountain biking rides in Arizona. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Granite Mountain / Granite Basin including Bradshaw Mountains, Groom Creek Trail, Mingus Mountain Loop, Mount Union / Yankee Doodle Trail, Thumb Butte and West Spruce Trail.
