In the Golden Gate National Recreation Area across the Bay from San Fran, there are two mountain bike singletracks through rolling hills which connect to form a figure-8: Coyote Ridge Trail (6 mi.) and Gerbode Valley Trail (8 mi.). Both are accessed from a trailhead parking area on Tennessee Valley Road which meets US101 north of Marin City.

Overall, Golden Gate National Recreation Area is the 65th most popular mountain bike trail of all 132 mountain biking rides in California. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Golden Gate National Recreation Area including China Camp State Park, Pine Mountain Loop Trail, Samuel Taylor State Park, Tamarancho, Coastal Trail - Dias Ridge Loop and Mt TamBear Valley Trail.
