Northwest of Santa Barbara and northeast of Santa Maria, the Sierra Madre Road (32S13) is the longest single dirt road in the Los Padres National Forest at 50 miles. Its an easy spring or autumn mountain bike ride with great vistas along the Sierra Madre Mountains.

To reach the Sierra Madre Ridge Road trailhead from Santa Maria, head north on US101 for about 4 miles. Turn right heading east on SR166 for about 35 miles. Look for the trailhead on the right side (south side) of SR166. It is roughly 20 miles northwest of New Cuyama.

Overall, Sierra Madre Ridge Road is the 20th most popular mountain bike trail of all 132 mountain biking rides in California. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Sierra Madre Ridge Road including Gibraltar / Redrock Loop, Little Pine Mountain / Happy Hollow, Romero Canyon Trail, Gaviota State Park, Ortega Trail and Tunnel Trail.
