East of Ouray near Lake City, the Wager Gulch Trail (#3308/3000/5 mi. one-way) follows a narrow, rough jeep trail to the ghost town of Carson and then onto the Continental Divide where it intersects the Colorado Trail. Continuing west on the CT leads to Heart Lake (3.7 mi.) or Cataract Lakes (5.8 mi.). To reach the mountain biking trailhead from Lake City, proceed south on SR149 for 2.5 miles to the road to Lake San Cristobal. Follow this road for 4 miles paved and 5.2 miles dirt. The trailhead is on the left at the Carson sign.

Overall, Wager Gulch Trail is the 46th most popular mountain bike trail of all 178 mountain biking rides in Colorado.
