Midland Bike Trail

The 13th most popular mountain bike trail in Colorado.

Just east of Buena Vista, the Midland Bike Trail (#1450) is an eight mile mountain bike ride on the old rail grade with stunning views of the Sawatch Range and the Collegiate Peaks.

To mountain bike ride to the trail from Buena Vista (western trailhead), follow the Barbara Whipple Trail at the east end of Main Street. At the graded road, follow CR304 southeast for 2.5 miles. Watch for the Midland Bike Trail veering left to the east.

To drive up to the Shield Gulch trailhead from Buena Vista (eastern trailhead), head south on US24 for 2 miles into Johnson Village. Turn left heading east on US24/285 for 6 miles. Turn left heading north on FS315 up Shields Gulch for 1 mile. The trailhead is on the left.

Overall, Midland Bike Trail is the 13th most popular mountain bike trail of all 176 mountain biking rides in Colorado.
