North of Durango and south of Silverton, the Lime Creek Trail is an 11 mile route along an old stagecoach road (aka Lime Creek Road or FS591). There are gradual ascents and descents ranging between 8,800 feet and 9,800 feet. The Lime Creek Trail generally runs north-south between two trailheads on US550.
To reach mountain biking at the southern trailhead from Durango, head north on US550 for about 28 miles to Durango Mountain Resort. Continue north on US 550 to Cascade Village. The trailhead is located about a half mile further north on the righthand (west) side of the road. This trailhead is about 18.8 miles south of Silverton.
The northern trailhead is located between Molas Pass and Coal Bank Pass.
Overall, Lime Creek Trail is the 73rd most popular mountain bike trail of all 175 mountain biking rides in Colorado.
