Big Shoals Trail For Mountain Biking

North of Lake City and just southwest of White Spings, the Big Shoals Trail is a sandy 18 mile doubletrack loop passing limestone ledges in the Suwanne River. The route passes through 4,000 acres of mature pine and swamps. Big Shoals is named after the limestone bedrook ledges forming a cascading falls.
To reach the mountain biking trailhead from Lake City, follow US75 north to SR136 and head east into White Springs. Turn right heading south on US41 for 1 mile and then left onto CR135 for 1.5 miles to trailhead. Ride loop counterclockwise south onto FS 7.
Overall, Big Shoals Trail is the 21st most popular mountain bike trail of all 58 mountain biking rides in Florida. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Big Shoals Trail including Stephan Foster State Park, Gar Pond, Holton Creek Concervation Area, Ellaville South and Anderson Springs.
