North of Tampa and west of Orlando near Brooksville, the 145,000 acre Withlacooche State Forest has pine uplands, cypress swamps and river bottom woodlands. It is home to the Croom Bike Trail network of singletrack forming two loops of 12 and 35 miles. These routes on packed-sand roll through dense pine hills and oak hammock forests. To reach mountain biking at the trailhead, follow US75 north to exit 301. Head east on SR50 for 1.0 miles and turn left on Croom Rital Road (CR480) for 5.3 miles. A small dirt parking area is available where the road crosses the Withlaccoche Rail-Trail (43 miles).
Overall, Croom Off-Road Bicycle Trails is the 2nd most popular mountain bike trail of all 58 mountain biking rides in Florida.
