To get to the trailhead for the Tower Mountain Trail, follow US15 to Apex exit north of Dillon. Follow Birch Creek road to turnoff to CCC Camp and Thief Creek road. Cross a bridge the CCC Camp ties straight ahead up the hill. Birch Creek Cabin lies to the right 200 meters. Start from the Birch Creek Ranger Station.

This is a steep 13.5 mile mountain bike ride along good forestry road. The highlights of the mountain bike ride come high up where fantastic views down across the valley, where Dillon lies, can be seen. There are also great views; from the summit of Tower mountain down across Birch Creek and across the Eastern Pioneers.

There is a sign located at the turnoff to Tower mountain and is situated 1/2 mile from the divide on Thief Creek. This track is a rougher mountain bike ride but you can make it all the way to the summit of Tower mountain. Keep right on this trail ignoring logging turnouts.

Overall, Tower Mountain Trail is the 49th most popular mountain bike trail of all 63 mountain biking rides in Idaho. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Tower Mountain Trail including Birch Creek Trail, Deerhead Lake Trail, Estler Lake Trail, Greenstone Mine Trail, Great Divide Mountain Bike Route and Birch Creek To Rock Creek TrailCDT - Chief Joseph Pass to Big Hole Pass.
