Big Smoky Creek Trail For Mountain Biking

West of Ketchum, the Big Smoky Creek Trail is long distance mountain bike route climbs up and over the Smoky Mountains to Galena Summit and returns via a rest at Galena Lodge. Starting from Big Smoky Guard Station located 25 miles east of Ketchum on FS227 (Warm Springs Road), climb Big Smoky Creek Trail (#072) over the ridge to Salmon River headwaters. Join FS215 as it descends, but pickup FS220 and climb FS220 to Galena Summit. Descend east on SR75 to the lodge and then on to NFS Praire Creek C.G. Head west on FS179 and pick up Trail #134. After several miles heading southwest, follow Trail #196 south to #177 west. At Big Smoky Creek again, head south on Trail #072 back to the Guard Station.
