Located 35 miles east of Bloomington in the Hoosier National Forest, the Nebo Ridge loop (aka Knobstone Trail) is a challenging 15 mile mountain bike trail through dense woods shared by hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. It connects with over 60 miles of trails and dirt roads.
To reach the trailhead from Columbus, head west on IN 46 for 13 miles to IN 135 south. Take SR 135 south, 9 miles to Story. Veer off SR 135 at the Story Inn (this is Elkinsville Road, but it is unmarked). Travel 2.7 miles and pass a gravel road on your right. Take the left bend in the road and cross a bridge. Go 0.3 miles then turn left into the parking area. This newly constructed parking area was paid for with trail access fees.
Overall, Nebo Ridge Loop / Knobstone Trail is the 1st most popular mountain bike trail of all 15 mountain biking rides in Indiana.
