On the Upper Peninsula near Munising, a 35 mile segment of the North Country Trail passes through the Hiawatha National Forest. It mountain bikes over rolling terrain in expansive stands fo northern white pine, cedar, aspen and other northern hardwoods.

Overall, North Country Trail is the 16th most popular mountain bike trail of all 37 mountain biking rides in Michigan. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby North Country Trail including Brunos Run, Grand Island, Fox River Pathway, Seney Refuge, Pine Marten Run Trail and Valley Spur Mountain Bike Route.
