North of Missoula in the Lolo National Forest, the Sawmill Curry Trail System for mountain biking is within the 61,000 acre Rattlesnake National Recreation Area and runs the arid praire hills. The 12+ miles of blazed routes started as livestock trails and logging skids. The main route is the Stuart Peak Trail (#24).

To reach mountain biking at the Sawmill-Curry Trail System trailhead from Missoula at Exit 104 of US90, follow Van Buren Street north for 4 miles. Proceed on Rattlesnake Drive to Sawmill Gulch. Turn left and park in main area.
