The Hartshorne Woods Park has a primitive 9 mile mountain bike mountain bike single-track with face-bashing downhills and vistas of the Atlantic ocean. Trail leads to Historic Twin Lights, where you can see Sandy Hook and all its beaches. Located near Atlantic Highlands. Garden State Parkway to Highway 35/36 exit. (Sign for twin lights historic monument. After toll follow on ramp onto highway 36. Continue down Highway 36 for 10-15 minutes. At 1st Avenue intersection (there will be a shell gas station to the left, and a foodtown grocery store to the right) make a right. Follow road until you reach top of hill. Make a left at top of hill and continue until you reach another intersection (This time there will be a red store to the left of the intersection. It is called the Navesink Country Store Deli. After you have made the left keep going to you pass the Old Stone Church. Bear left and continue straight. Trailhead and parking lot will be short distance to the right.
