The Red River Passmountain bike route is a 12 mile road (FS488) passes through the high country above the Red River. Riding from the town of Red River, follow SR578 south for 2 miles and head east on FS488 (aka Old Red River Pass Road). Themountain bike route immediately climbs via switchbacks through aspen groves. Vast sweeps of dark green forest engulf the Enchanted Circle of peaks. From the top of the pass, head south into Fourth of July Canyon for some rolling double track which eventually dumps into a lush meadow with wildflowers known as Fosters Park. The track follows a ridge above the canyon before dropping to meet SR578; a fast downhill back into Red River.

Overall, Red River Pass is the 11th most popular mountain bike trail of all 53 mountain biking rides in New Mexico.
