Southwest of Asheville and Bryson City, the famous Tsali mountain biking loops are Left Loop (11.9 mi.), Right Loop (11 mi.), Thompson Loop (7.7 mi.), and Mouse Branch Loop (6.5 mi.). These trails are shared by mountain bikers and horseback riders -- two loops are open each day to the respective riding groups.
To reach the trailhead from Asheville, head west on US40 towards Cherokee. Continue on US19 through Cherokee and Bryson City. Turn right heading west on SR28 for 3.5 miles. Turn right on forest road heading north. Continue to end of road.
Note, this region is pretty much shutdown during off-season (Nov.-Mar.), including campgrounds and cabins.
Overall, Tsali Trails is the 1st most popular mountain bike trail of all 24 mountain biking rides in North Carolina.
