In the western Nantahala National Forest, the State Line Trail is open to mountain biking. This route combines the following: FS24 south -> Tipton Knob/Cook Creek Trail south -> SR1336 south -> SR1331 southwest -> SR1326 west -> SR1325 northwest -> FS50 north -> Trail #82 east -> FS24 north.

Overall, State Line Trail is the 17th most popular mountain bike trail of all 24 mountain biking rides in North Carolina. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby State Line Trail including Tsali Trails, Fires Creek Area, Trace Ridge / Spencer Gap, Bent Creek - Hard Times Trailhead, Little Yellow Mountain Gap Trail and Blue Valley TrailRound Bottom Road.
